dis·ci·ple (d dis·ci Let no one imagine that he will lose anything of human dignity by this voluntary sell-out of his all to his God. He does not by this degrade himself as a man; rather he finds his right place of high honor as one made in the image of his Creator. His deep disgrace lay in his moral derangement, his unnatural usurpation of the place of God. His honor will be proved by restoring again that stolen throne. In exalting God over all, he finds his own highest honor upheld. --A.W Tozer Upon first look, the definitions for “disciple” and “discipleship” don’t look so daunting. A student. A student who not only learns but actively practices what he is learning. Maybe even a teacher. Not big and powerful words on their own at all. Take them in another context; or rather apply them to Christianity and their meanings change in a radical way. They take on more meaning than some people can only hope to understand, let alone choose to fulfill. Discipleship in the Christian context is a choice. It is not something a person earns or is promoted to. It is a choice. To be a disciple of Christ is to accept teachings and live them out. Discipleship has nothing to do with obedience. One can be obedient to some teaching or law because it is the right thing to do without actually believing in the teaching or accept it as their personal truth. So its more than just being a good Christian. Discipleship of Christ is about lifestyle. A lifestyle of sacrifice. A lifestyle of worship. Of righteousness. Of holiness. It’s a lifestyle that costs everything that a person has, wants and hopes. It is our purpose as a ministry to educate the people of God about the principles of discipleship. We want to support and encourage those who have already decided to pay the costs of taking up their crosses on a daily basis. Moreover we want to inspire those who have not yet made that decision as of yet to do so. No matter where you fall into that spectrum of discipleship, God bless you and make Himself more real to you than you have ever experienced Him before!! Welcome to Empty Vessel Ministries.
